Crimestoppers: Operation School Safe seeks community vigilance

ACT Policing is asking for the Canberra community to remain vigilant around schools and colleges in the weeks ahead as staff and students take their regular term break. Historically, school properties become more vulnerable targets for offences such as burglary and graffiti during the holiday period. Police believe that with the vigilance and assistance of the community, particularly by those residents who live close to a school and perhaps take regular walks around their local area, this type of crime can be greatly reduced.

Crimestoppers: Offender sought after vicious sexual assault – Dickson (20 September 2009)

ACT Policing is investigating an incident which occurred in Dickson around 4.40 am today (September 20). The 24-year-old victim was walking north along the Dickson side of Northbourne Avenue to her home, when she was approached from behind by a male who assaulted her and threatened her at knife point.

Crimestoppers: Fatal collision; Majura Road – Majura (19 September 2009)

ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision which occurred on Majura Road around 7am today (September 19). Witness accounts from the scene indicate a tipper truck towing a dog-trailer carrying gravel was travelling north on Majura Road, when a four-wheel-drive travelling in the opposite direction, at high speed, crossed onto the wrong side of the road colliding with the truck.

Crimestoppers: Police seek information about suspicious man – Lyneham (12 September 2009)

ACT Policing is seeking information about a suspicious man seen outside the IGA supermarket in Lyneham on Saturday afternoon (September 12). The man, who was riding a silver bicycle, approached a 7-year-old girl out the front of the supermarket about 5.30pm, asking her if she wanted to come for a ride with him.

Crimestoppers: Police seek puppy thief – Civic (09 September 2009)

ACT Policing is seeking assistance from the public in identifying a male who stole a female cavoodle puppy worth around $1200 from its glass pen in a Bunda St, Civic pet shop on Wednesday afternoon (September 9). Around 4.30pm on Wednesday, a male who had been browsing in the store, Pets Paradise, is captured on CCTV lifting up the black-and-white puppy, putting it under his jumper, and leaving the store.

Changes to legislation affecting unit titling of dual occupancies (10 September 2009)

On 10 September 2009, changes to the Unit Titles Act 2001 came into effect which restricted unit titling of some two-unit developments. The amendments mean that two unit developments are only permitted to be unit titled where one unit is wholly or partly superimposed on the other unit. For more information see the ACTPLA webpage
