Crimestoppers: Witnesses sought for aggravated robbery – Canberra City (17 July 2009)

Crimestoppers logoACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery in the ACT Legislative Assembly car park Friday, July 17, 2009 in which two males were assaulted and had cash and mobile phones stolen.

ACT Policing Beats Team responded to the incident, in which it had been reported that the two males were assaulted by a group of five males. An 18-year-old man from Red Hill received a possible jaw fracture while another 18-year-old man from Downer received soft tissue issues to his face.

Police had stopped and questioned five male youths as persons of interest for suspicious behaviour earlier in the evening and suspect the same group may have been involved in the aggravated robbery.

Enquiries are continuing.

Police would urge anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity or behaviour in Civic, particularly around the Legislative Assembly car park on London Circuit, in the early hours of this morning, possibly involving a group of five male youths, should contact Crime Stoppers
