Crimestoppers: Witnesses sought to aggravated robbery in Braddon (29 December 2009)

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery which occurred in Braddon yesterday (December 29).

Around 10.55pm a man in possession of a knife entered a liquor store on Lonsdale Street and demanded money. The man working behind the counter complied with the demand. The entire incident took less than a minute after which the offender ran from the store with a substantial amount of cash in an easterly directly along Elouera Street. Nobody was injured during the incident.

The offender is described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, around 170cms (5’7”) tall, with a skinny build. He was wearing a black ski-style balaclava with eyes and mouth holes cut out, light coloured pants, a black hooded jacket and a black t-shirt. The offender spoke in broken English with a heavy Middle Eastern or similar accent.

Police have inspected CCTV footage from the store and AFP Forensic Services attended the scene to conduct an examination.
