The Council has received correspondence from the ACTPLA Applications Secretariat in regard to the a possible EIS Proposal: “Sandford Street extension (currently Morisset Street) to the Federal Highway-200900355-600/0 Gungahlin (numerous blocks)” UPDATE: ACTPLA are now advising the following: “With reference to the email for EIS Scoping Document dated 9 November, 2009 please be advised that the applicant is not seeking an s211 exemption as stated in the email. NCCC Submission on Australian Heritage Village, Watson – DA 200915605

The North Canberra Community Council recently made a submission in response to the Australian Heritage Village, Watson development application (DA 200915605) The key recommendations from the NCCC submission are that the Development application should be rejected on the grounds of problems identified in the following areas: Apparent improper process Traffic impacts. Impacts on the Mt Majura Nature Reserve  

Canberra Pedestrian Forum: Submission to Australian Road Rules

The Canberra Pedestrian Forum represents and promotes our rights and interests as pedestrians in Canberra, in much the same way that the NRMA, Pedal Power and the Motorcycle Riders Association represent our interests as drivers and riders. They have made the following submission in relation to the Australian Road Rules 9th amendment package, relating to Rule 232: Crossing a road at traffic lights. The Submission is reproduced below:

If you are concerned about the construction of the ASIO building adjacent to Campbell on Parkes Way and Constitution Avenue, whether because of its size, because of the inappropriateness a security agency in such a symbolic location, or because of the almost total lack of public consultation, then please look at some of the suggestions below as to what you can do, to either turn the tide or to help guarantee better consultation in future.
