Invitation to Comment: Draft Variation No. 302 to the Territory Plan (closing 22 June 2010

A review of the Territory Plan by the ACT Planning and Land Authority (ACTPLA) has resulted in proposed changes to the community facility zone, the associated development table and development code. The North Canberra Community Council is concerned that the changes may have a long term detrimental effect on the future of community facility zones. The draft variation is available at www.actpla.act.gov.au under Consultation on the home page. The period for comments closes on Tuesday 22 June 2010. The draft variation has been reproduced below:

Have your say about new rules for disability services

Commonwealth, State and Territory governments want to hear from people about what rules (standards) should be in place for disability services. This consultation is currently underway. These rules will be used by disability service providers all over Australia. Governments are setting the rules to make sure all people who use disability services have the same idea about what a good quality service means.

Feedback Document: Launch of Northside Community Service Report on Social Inclusion amongst Older People

On May 10 2010 Northside Community Service (NCS) launched the report Breaking Down the Wall: Barriers to Social Inclusion amongst Older Australians in Canberra. Crimestoppers: Witnesses sought to armed robbery at Caltex Braddon

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an armed robbery at the Caltex service station in Braddon which occurred around 3:10am this morning (Thursday 10 June). Two males entered the service station, jumped over the counter and assaulted the male store attendant. The offenders also threatened the attendant with a baseball bat and a knife. The offenders stole an amount of cash and cigarettes.
