New television recycling arrangements (from 27 April 2010)

From 27 April 2010, televisions will be banned from going to landfill and recycled for a fee at the Mitchell and Mugga Lane Resource Management Centres.The fee will cover the cost of recycling and will range from $15 to $40 per item, depending on its type and size. The scheme will divert around 200 tonnes of televisions from landfill each year and will continue until the National E-waste Scheme is introduced in 2011, which will provide for free e-waste recycling. ACT Policing: Youth reminded that ‘You Can Speak Out’

ACT Policing’s Crime Prevention Team has this week launched a new family violence campaign as part of National Youth Week celebrations which commence this weekend (April 10). The ‘You Can Speak Out’ campaign aims to raise youth awareness on family violence issues that affect young people within our community and to encourage young people to speak out and report family violence incidents to police.

PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSIONS The Department of Disability Housing and Community Services (DHCS) would like to invite interested members of the community to an information session on a planning study into the potential redevelopment of land in Braddon and Reid. The land in Braddon is currently occupied by Currong Apartments, Allawah Court and buildings owned by the Catholic Church. The land in Reid is currently occupied by Bega Court.
