$1.6M Ainslie Shops Revamp to Commence

The following is an ACT Government Media Release: Released 22/03/2010 A significant revamp to the Ainslie shops, including additional car parking, easier access, new toilet block, playspace, walkway canopy, new seats, bike racks and lighting, is about to commence, Chief Minister and Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Jon Stanhope, said today.

Northbourne Avenue, London Circuit to undergo $7.6m upgrade

The following is an ACT Government Media Release: Northbourne Avenue, London Circuit to undergo $7.6m upgrade Released 18/03/2010 Two of Canberra’s busiest roads, Northbourne Avenue and London Circuit, will undergo significant safety improvements and maintenance over the next three months, Chief Minister and Minister for Transport, Jon Stanhope, said today. Roadworks on London Circuit start this week while the first stage of the Northbourne Avenue works commence next week. The entire works will be completed by mid-June 2010.

Seniors Week 21-28 March 2010

ACT Seniors Week will run from Sunday 21 to Sunday 28 March 2010. There’s an action-packed program throughout the week featuring indoor and outdoor activities, as well as a range of information sessions specifically aimed at older people. The week-long program is designed to celebrate older Canberrans, demonstrate their contribution to the local community, and also give those who are willing the chance to try something new. The ACT legislation register is an authorised electronic statute book that provides the community with free and quick access to ACT legislation and related information. The register is central to the making, notification, commencement, operation, interpretation, proof, republication, amendment and repeal of legislation and instruments made under legislation. The register has been in operation since 12 September 2001. Since that time it has had many enhancements and most recently a new search function has been installed. Free travel on ACTION buses for seniors (22-26 March 2010)

ACTION is providing free Off-Peak travel for holders of an ACT Seniors Card during Senior’s Week from Monday 22 March to Friday 26 March 2010. Off-Peak is any time (weekday) between 9.00am and 4.30pm and again after 6.00pm. Canberrans 75 years or older are also entitled to free travel on ACTION buses at any time using an ACTION Gold Card. To receive your free Gold Card visit a Canberra Connect Shopfront or the Drivers Licence Service in the Civic Library. Application forms are also available online at www.action.act.gov.au
