The ACT Government is seeking community views to assist with the update of the Canberra Social Plan. Canberra Times: Review urges transport overhaul

In the Canberra Times, 11 November 2009, city reporter Megan Doherty writes about the major review of Canberra’s cycling and pedestrian networks. The article discusses the possible introduction of separated and protected bike lanes. Good information about what defines the “Copenhagen-style” protected bike lane can be obtained from the City of Melbourne website. Community Forum: YOUth LEADing Australia! – Congress and Community Forum (24-26 November 2009)

OzGreen is an independent not for profit organisation best described as a social enterprise, which educates, engages and empowers young people, adults, corporations and communities to tackle critical environmental sustainability challenges (such as climate change and water) and become agents for positive social change. OzGREEN’s transformative learning and leadership programs foster informed participation, harness people’s special contributions and build pathways for ongoing engagement. On 10 November 2009, WIN News (Canberra) ran an interesting article on how the ACT Legislative Assembly will be trialling their “Daily On Demand” a video-on-demand system that will allow the public to view many official activities of the Assembly and its elected members. This system will allow the electorate to view exactly what occurred and see the complete context of speeches, debates and question time with all the subtle nuances such as behaviour, tone of voice, attitude and body language – all factors that are lost when relying on a written Hansard record.
