Canberra Pedestrian Forum: Submission to Australian Road Rules

The Canberra Pedestrian Forum represents and promotes our rights and interests as pedestrians in Canberra, in much the same way that the NRMA, Pedal Power and the Motorcycle Riders Association represent our interests as drivers and riders. They have made the following submission in relation to the Australian Road Rules 9th amendment package, relating to Rule 232: Crossing a road at traffic lights. The Submission is reproduced below:

The Majura Festival will take place on 24 October 2009 10am to 10pm in Woolley Street, Dickson The Majura Festival has been run as an annual event by NCS since 2000.Since then, it has evolved to a visible cultural event signifying the close linkages that have developed between NCS and the local community. Reminder: Invitation to comment on Community Facility Zones (Closing 23 October 2009)

The ACT Planning and Land Authority (ACTPLA) has released an online discussion paper which examines the Community Facility Zone Development Code and associated development tables. Community facility zones are traditionally associated with things like child care or community centres, cultural facilities and places of worship. The paper (reproduced below) identifies key questions about how the code and table might be revised.

Crimestoppers: Pedestrian dies after struck by car on Parkes Way, Russell (15 October 2009)

ACT Policing is investigating the death of a male pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on Parkes Way at 8.11pm tonight (Thursday, October 15). Although investigations are at an early stage police believe the pedestrian, believed to be a 42-year-old man from Griffith, had stepped from the road verge on the southern carriageway of Parkes Way, where he was then struck by a Nissan Pulsar sedan travelling west (city-bound).
