Open Day: Sustainable House Day 2009 (13 September 2009)

On Sunday 13 September 2009, around 170 homes nationally will open their doors to the public for this year’s Sustainable House Day as millions of Australians continue to embrace renewable energy, recycling and other practices designed to lessen our impact on the environment. For the first time, homes will open for free this year thanks to the support of the Australian Government, providing a fantastic opportunity for people seeking to make their own homes or rental properties greener. Ranger Guided Tour: Gang Gangs at Canberra Nature Park (19 September 2009)

The Friends of Mount Majura in conjunction with Parks, Conservation and Lands  are organising a Ranger Guided Discovery Tour to view the magnificent Gang-gang cockatoos in their natural woodland habitat at the Majura paddocks. Consultation: Review of the Arts in Canberra (until March 2010)

Funding was provided in the 2008-09 Budget for a review of the arts in Canberra as Arts Canberra, the ACT Government’s current action statement for the arts, expired at the end of 2008. The review will be conducted by independent consultants Peter Loxton and Associates Pty Ltd and will include research into best-practice arts policy from around Australia and overseas, as well as working with the local ACT arts community to look at the success of the current policy and its implementation to date.
