Changes to operation of reusables facilities (Mugga Lane / Mitchell)

The following is a media release from the Department of Territories and Municipal Services: CHANGES TO OPERATION OF REUSABLES FACILITIES The ACT Government advises residents of changes to the operation of the reusables facility at the Mugga Lane Resource Management Centre. This follows Aussie Junk being placed in liquidation earlier today following a meeting of their creditors.  The reusables facility at the Mugga Lane Resource Management Centre will temporarily close from today until further notice. It is anticipated that the facility will open for the acceptance of goods in the near future.

Invitation to comment: Proposal for legislation to increase the energy efficiency of Canberra's hot water services

ACT Greens MLA, Caroline Le Couteur is proposing to introduce a private members bill before the Legislative Assembly to legislate increasing the energy efficiency of Canberra’s hot water services. Ms. Le Couteur is currently soliciting public comment and feedback on her proposed legislation.

Invitation to comment: Sustainable Transport Action Plan 2010-16

The ACT Government has released the Strategic Public Transport Network Plan which was launched at a Sustainable Transport Round table attended by over 70 community leaders on Monday 27 July, 2009. The Plan has been developed by leading transport planning expert Jarrett Walker from McCormack Rankin Cagney, and sets the vision for how public transport in Canberra could operate by 2031, and would help the ACT meet its sustainable transport target of 16percent of work trips on public transport by 2026.

Crimestoppers: Police investigating three bus incidents – Braddon, Civic and Monash (22 July 2009)

ACT Policing is investigating three separate incidents involving ACTION buses since Wednesday night July 22. About 8.40pm on Wednesday, the driver of a bus travelling southbound on Gooreen Street, Braddon noticed a white sedan travelling in the opposite direction. As the car passed, an object struck the front windscreen of the bus causing impact damage however, the object did not penetrate the windscreen.
