Canberra Times: ACT on board to connect east coast

On the 14th of July, The Canberra Times ran an article reporting the ACT Government position on a very fast train (VFT) linking Canberra to other eastern seaboard cities. It appears that the Majura Parkway upgrade route has not been predicated on the real traffic and transportation needs but rather “pie in the sky” conceptual plans for a VFT route which are unlikely to see the light of day in the near or foreseeable future.

Crimestoppers: Bus driver assaulted – City (13 July 2009)

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an assault on an Action bus driver at the City bus interchange today (July 13). Around 3.25pm the victim asked three men not to board his bus, located at platform one, after a discrepancy over the price of a ticket. One of the offenders then punched the bus driver three times before all three men fled in the direction of Bunda Street.

Call for applications: 2009-10 ACT Seniors Grants and Sponsorship Program (closing 24 August 2009)

The ACT Office for Ageing is inviting applications for projects and events for a period of twelve (12) months, two (2) year sponsorships for recurrent events are being offered for the first time. In 2009-2010 the Seniors Grants and Sponsorship Program will provide a total of $100,000 to the community with a maximum of $15,000 available for each approved project.

Crimestoppers: Witnesses sought to assault in Civic (10 July 2009)

ACT Policing is seeking public assistance to identify a male offender involved in an assault which occurred on East Row, Civic on Friday morning, July 10. About 1.30am, the 25-year-old male victim attempted to intervene in a fight between two groups of males before an unknown offender struck him, causing him to then strike his head against a concrete wall.
