Submission commenting on the Draft Majura Parkway Environmental Impact Statement Report (EIS)

The North Canberra Community Council (NCCC) welcomes the opportunity to comment on the Draft Majura Parkway Environmental Impact Statement Report (EIS). We also appreciate the willingness of the ACT Government to extend the consultation period and to hold the public meeting on 8 July. We believe the level of interest at that meeting indicates that it would be desirable to hold that kind of meeting in future consultation processes ? perhaps towards the middle of the EIS process, when initial views are being formed. Young Canberrans and those who work with young people are urged to comment on the discussion paper on the new ACT Young Peoples’ Plan 2009-2014. The new plan will set clear benchmarks to make sure we are meeting our goals, in the areas of education, health and wellbeing of children and young people. Issues you may want to comment on include living sustainably and the environment, individual and community wellbeing, moving from education to further training and work, representation of young people in the media and cyber-bullying. Crimestoppers: Witnesses sought to aggravated robbery at motel – O'Connor (8 July 2009)

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses who may be able to help identify offenders involved in an aggravated robbery at the Canberra Motor Village in O’Connor Wednesday, July 8, 2009. Around 9.22pm on the 8th July 2009, three male offenders entered the front reception office of the premises on Kunzea Street in O’Connor. There were two staff members, a male and a female, working in the office at the time of the offence.

Ainslie Village "Our Stories" mural

On 2 July 2009, the ACT Minister for Disability and Housing, Mr John Hargreaves launched a mural at Ainslie Village, planned and developed by residents. The “Our Stories” mural project began back in February. Interested Ainslie Village residents were given sketch books and asked to develop ideas representing one of the stories of their lives.
