Crimestoppers: Witnesses sought to attempted robbery Alinga Street, City (4 June 2009)

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery of a business on Alinga Street, City June 4. About 4.50pm a male offender entered the Cash Stop Financial Services store and pushed a bag under a barrier before threatening a female staff member with what she believed to be a firearm and demanded money.

Canberra Airport master plan, mixed bag with no real industry support

In November 2008, the Federal Transport Minister Anthony Albanese rejected Canberra International Airport’s draft master plan on the grounds that it did not provide enough detail on the proposal to develop the airport into a freight hub and the airport’s community consultation had been insufficient. The Minister was quoted at the time as saying “The public have the right to know how this development could impact on their homes and the airport’s response to these concerns has been inadequate.” As a result of the rejection of the original master plan the Airport has had 180 days to resubmit their revised …

Roadworks creating problems for Pialligo residents and businesses

The ABC Canberra TV news provided the following report on the impact road construction and upgrades around the airport and entrance to the suburb of Pialligo is creating for residents and local businesses. Roads ACT have indicated that road-works should be complete by the end of July, but in the interim temporary traffic lights are being considered.   The North Canberra Community Council encourages residents and businesses to contact the Council if they continue to have problems with access to the suburb after the temporary traffic lights are installed or there are unreasonable delays in the implementation of these temporary …

The Joint Champions Group, established in 2005, provides tenants with an opportunity to take part in and manage activities that contribute to the planning and delivery of housing services in the ACT.

Community Consultation Session: Review of Special Education Services in ACT Public Schools (6 June 2009 – Turner School)

As part of the Government’s commitment to addressing the needs of students with a disability in the ACT, a Review of Special Education Services in ACT Public Schools is currently being undertaken. The Review will look at research into leading national and international practice in curriculum and pedagogy for students with disabilities.
