North Canberra Community Council Meeting Wednesday, 17 June 2009, 19:30 ACT Sports House 100 Maitland Street, Hackett The North Canberra Community Council (NCCC) is the umbrella organization for Resident Associations and Community Groups in North Canberra. The NCCC is the one-stop-shop for Government and the community to communicate. The NCCC is run by volunteers and membership is free. As a resident of North Canberra you are invited to become a member and participate in committee meetings. Grants of up to $5,000 available under the 2009 Schools as Communities program

The ACT Minister for Children and Youth, has announced that grants of up to $5,000 are available under the 2009 Schools as Communities program Strategic Projects. Schools as Communities is an ACT Government program that works in identified ACT preschools and primary schools to support children, their families and teachers.

NCCC Submission to Canberra Airport Draft Preliminary Master Plan 2009

The North Canberra Community Council recently made a submission in response to the Canberra Airport Preliminary Master Plan 2009. The key recommendations from the NCCC submission are: That the PDMP 2009 should be rejected. That a 11pm to 6am night time curfew be introduced in Canberra. That the consultation process should be revised before CIA is allowed to present its revised PDMD to prevent conflicts of interest. Consultation should be carried out by policy-making government agencies, like Airservices Australia, not by CIA. A full copy of the NCCC submission is also available for download in PDF format. Community Consultation Session: Review of Special Education Services in ACT Public Schools (23 May 2009 – Turner School)

As part of the Government’s commitment to addressing the needs of students with a disability in the ACT, a Review of Special Education Services in ACT Public Schools is currently being undertaken. The Review will look at research into leading national and international practice in curriculum and pedagogy for students with disabilities. The Review will result in a report outlining options for the future of special education in ACT public schools. One component of the review will be the analysis of current program provision.
