As the election nears, how do we ensure the voices of ordinary voters are heard? We’re in election forum season and the first cab off the rank is the North Canberra Community Council which will hold a virtual election debate tomorrow night (16 September).
2020 ACT Election: Candidates Forum
In lieu of the regular General Meeting, the NCCC will be hosting a Candidates Forum, in conjunction with the RiotACT, to highlight some of the key election issues facing North Canberra.

It has been another busy month in North Canberra planning news. In particular, the recent use of Ministerial ‘call-in’ powers to fast-track the Dickson ‘Common Ground’ development exemplifies many of the concerns by residents about the current nature of the ACT’s planning processes.
Stop the bus layover in Turner Parklands
A resident-initiated petition to the Legislative Assembly has been started to stop the relocation of the City West bus layover to the corner of Barry Drive and Watson St in Turner.

NCCC July 2020 Newsletter
The NCCC was delighted to host its first ever online General Meeting in July, with many members logging in via Zoom last week to hear guest presentations on the historic Dickson Aerodrome, new Dickson Walk-in Health Centre and the planned changes to the bus network. The next General Meeting (16 September), which will also be held online, will feature a Kurrajong candidates forum for the upcoming ACT election.
