Public Information Session: Strategic Plan for Positive Ageing – second stage of community consultations (19 August September 2009)

The ACT Government is seeking your feedback on the draft Strategic Plan for Positive Ageing, a whole-of-government initiative being developed in partnership with the Ministerial Advisory Council on Ageing and the community and will be holding a public information session on Wednesday 19th August 2009.

Invitation to comment: ACT Taxi Industry Review (closing 21 August 2009)

The Government has decided to undertake a comprehensive review of the operation, regulation and licensing of ACT taxi services and would appreciate comments from interested members of the community on the ACT Taxi Industry Review—Draft Terms of Reference. Feedback received will input into the development of an Issues Paper which will then be released for public comment.

Understanding ACTPLA's community engagement and consultation role

There is often much confusion and community disquiet with regard to the notification and consultation on development applications and other general planning processes. To help explain the role of the Authority, ACTPLA have produced “The Community Engagement Guide” which clearly outlines outlines ACTPLA’s role in notifying development applications and explains when and how they consult with the community.

Invitation to Comment: Ainslie park name proposal at Block 2 Section 87 (closing 28 August 2009)

ACTPLA (ACT Place Names Section) is seeking your views on a proposal to name the park bounded by Rutherford Crescent and Officer Crescent in Ainslie, Bill Pye Community Park (see map right), commemorating Mr TTW (Bill) Pye MBE. Bill Pye was a resident of Ainslie from 1946; he was an outstanding citizen who was extensively involved in his community. He served with the Australian Military Forces from the outbreak of World War II and then with the United States Forces, seeing action in New Guinea and the Philippines, returning to Australia in 1946.

Invitation to comment: Proposal for legislation to increase the energy efficiency of Canberra's hot water services

ACT Greens MLA, Caroline Le Couteur is proposing to introduce a private members bill before the Legislative Assembly to legislate increasing the energy efficiency of Canberra’s hot water services. Ms. Le Couteur is currently soliciting public comment and feedback on her proposed legislation.

Invitation to comment: Sustainable Transport Action Plan 2010-16

The ACT Government has released the Strategic Public Transport Network Plan which was launched at a Sustainable Transport Round table attended by over 70 community leaders on Monday 27 July, 2009. The Plan has been developed by leading transport planning expert Jarrett Walker from McCormack Rankin Cagney, and sets the vision for how public transport in Canberra could operate by 2031, and would help the ACT meet its sustainable transport target of 16percent of work trips on public transport by 2026.
