Keeping Canberra’s trees safe (May-August 2010)

The ACT Government advises the community that work is set to commence on Monday 3 May 2010 for the removal of dead and hazardous trees across Canberra. In all cases tree removal is the last option and the Government has first considered whether pruning or corrective tree surgery work could sensibly be undertaken. While most of the trees in this latest tree removal program are dead, largely as a result of the ongoing drought, some ‘green’ trees will be removed which have been assessed as posing an unacceptable safety risk to the public.
